Luanne Smith, MA, LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor
My journey into counseling began many years ago with an interest in Psychology that was sparked by a wonderful teacher I was fortunate to have in high school. I learned much about how just listening to someone’s story can many times help them release themselves from fear or anxiety of feeling like they are going through the pain alone. As I started my closer walk with Christ, I felt Him prompting me to finish my education to become a counselor. Through Christ’s example of counseling others, I saw that he always gave them hope for a better life. I’m brought to Provers 13; 12 “hope deferred makes a heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life”. There are many circumstances in life that can defer our hope and steal our joy in life. Many times we cannot avoid the circumstances, but we can change the way we think about our circumstances that can make a big difference in how it effects our life.
As a counselor my role can be varied. It could be walking with you through a rough time in your life, giving you the support you need to find your way through. It could be to offer insight and alternative ways to approach challenges that you may have in your life. I enjoy using expressive therapies such as art journaling, drawing, music or writing to utilize other expressions when words sometimes are at a loss. Whatever it is in your life that brings you to Treeside, I would be honored to work with you to achieve your goals for hope and joy in your life.
